SQL Database Administration

Course Overview

In this course, students learn how to create, query, and modify complex and highly scalable database using SQL and PL/SQL, and optimize, maintain, troubleshoot, secure, and monitor database. This hands-on training course focuses on the use of current and emerging relational database tools and technologies to make complex queries and modifications to the database, perform database recovery and monitoring, backup and restore database, perform database auditing, archiving, and distribution, and establish user accounts, roles, and access control.  Topics include database objects, database queries, database views, T-SQL scripts, stored procedures, backup types including full and incremental backups, concurrency, table structures and indexing, and database interoperability. Special attention is paid to the use of Oracle and SQL database servers. This course has a computer lab fee.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

Design a database using basic SQL commands

Explain the basic concepts of database architecture

Perform subqueries and manipulate views

Troubleshoot a database

Perform relational joins and transactions on SQL tables
